Hilde Goossens, born in 1978 in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium, has been painting since childhood. She formalized her artistic education at Sint-Lucas Ghent from 1994 to 1997, graduating with great distinction, and has actively continued painting ever since.
Now living in the picturesque Flemish Ardennes in Sint-Maria-Oudenhove, Belgium, Hilde's work is deeply influenced by her daily life, contemplative walks, and memorable travels, always captured through the lens of her smartphone. Her primary medium is acrylics on paper, which serves as the foundation for her larger canvas works. Hilde's style is distinguished by its evocative power, skillfully stripping away extraneous details to reveal the essence of her subjects. These frozen memories, brushed suggestively on canvas in muted colours, evoke a sense of tranquility and introspection. Each week, she shares a story that intertwines her diary entries with her art, creating a poetic narrative rendered in these silenced hues.
Hilde has showed her work in several solo exhibitions, including at Zebrastraat in Ghent, the public library in Zottegem, and the Cultural Center De Meent in Alsemberg. Her work has also been featured in group exhibitions at PMMK in Ostend (now Muzee) and the Textielmuseum in Ghent. Additionally, her work is part of the growing private collection Merode in Ronse.
